Not just a wagon. Not just a Volvo wagon. Not just a diesel Volvo wagon. A diesel Volvo wagon with a manual transmission .

A 240 Diesel is actually not that great, it's very jalop yes. But DEAD slow, the VW D24 only made about 80HP when new. if only it had been a Turbo diesel, but alas, such a thing never found it's way into the 200 series.

The ultimate would be a Mazda RX4 Wagon.

You're replying to a former Mercedes 240D owner. Speed was not part of the consideration here.

Ahh, it's all good then. I'm considering a 240 D myself acutally, it's just that I'm used to se a lot of people here complain about cars not being quick enough for highway use :)
I should not have made assumptions I guess. My bad :)

But you could probably add a turbo kit, yes? Easier said than done or eminently doable?

The D24 was available as both a T and a TIC as well in the 700 series and other cars , so it can be done, but it's probably cheaper to just swap the entire engine.

The Jalop is indeed strong with this one.

This car has been listed for months. It's definitely a piece of crap; no one wants it.

Wow..this car is probably slower than my old Fairmont with the 88 horsepower 2.3 liter. I didn't think that was possible.

And relatively unreliable and with a low life expectancy (for a diesel).

Yeah, the D24 wasn't the best engine VW ever made, that's for sure.

A friend acquired one in a Volvo showing only 60K miles. He got rid of it after only one year of ownership as his wife was left stranded one too many times.

My younger brother had one (diesel+ 240+manual+wagon). It ran to over 500,000 miles (with two engine rebuilds). His was metallic dark blue.
